The Alpine Museum is currently closed for renovation work
Since Monday, September 20, 2021, the Alpine Museum has been closed to the public for renovation work. Supported by the Communauté de Communes de la Vallée de Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, this ambitious overall renovation project is scheduled to last 4 years. The Alpine Museum will thus become the Musée du Mont-Blanc, providing the region with a structuring and innovative facility to meet the cultural challenges of today and tomorrow. It will also help to diversify the valley's tourist activities in the context of climate change. Classified as a Musee de France, the museum has been located in the heart of Chamonix since 1969. with a collection of over 15,000 objects, the Musée Alpin will benefit several years of major renovation work, to become the Musée du Mont Blanc the Musée du Mont Blanc: creation of 3 permanent exhibition spaces and a temporary exhibition space, new museography, new mediation and a new temporary exhibition area.
