From the Sales refuge, head east to reach the Tête de la Motte via the winding path, then stop to admire the breathtaking panoramic view over the Salles valley. The ascent continues on a more gentle slope across a plateau where mountain-dwelling animals can be observed. You can see the summit from the plateau. The path disappears among limestone chasms but the route is marked by a succession of cairns. A short steep section ends at a large cairn which marks the summit of the Pointe de Sales.
